Who Have You Told You Are Looking for a Job?

You are looking for a job. You want to get into a new career or just get a paycheck coming into the home. It's not always easy to find a job, but you are plugging away at the job boards, talking to people online and even calling companies you hope to work with. Did you forget about your own personal network, though? The fact is, if you are not telling others that you are looking for a job, you are likely missing key opportunities to find a job that's perfectly suited for you. Who have you told and who have you not told just yet.
Friends and Family
It is not always a good idea to tell friends or family that you are finding a job right now, but that may be an important step. You don't necessarily want the individual t hire you directly but you do want to ensure that if they know of a job opening that they fill you in. That means telling people in the family to keep an eye out for you. It's a good idea to be open about what you are looking for too, otherwise, family members can become insulted that you haven't asked enough questions.
Social Media
Social media for a job search is fantastic. When you are finding a job, you don't have to do a lot of work to actually get your name out there if you've worked hard to build your personal network through social media. In other words, you really do need to build a strong network. You can do this on various websites including Facebook and LinkedIn. It's not just your friends that matter here. You'll also want to make connections with people you've worked with or know through business associations. You never know when one of them is going to be able to offer you the job you need.
When it comes to building a strong personal network, it's critical to do so slowly and consistently. Ultimately, you will need to do this to find a job that fits your job skills. While job boards can help, they may not be the best option for finding a job that's best suited for you. There's no harm in telling people you are trying to find a job either. It's up to you to let as many people know as possible otherwise you simply will be missing out on key opportunities.
